Congrats on taking the first steps towards your education goals. Have you received your approval email from Guild? If not, don’t worry, you should receive an email within seven days of submitting your Guild application.

If you have received your Guild approval email, double congratulations! Here are your next steps for becoming a Guild student at Illinois Tech:

Tech Requirements

Students may be required to download software to complete coursework as part of this program and should have access to a personal computer in order to download and access the required software. This software may not be downloadable or accessible on an employer-issued computer. Access to the internet is required for all programs.

1 — Make Sure You're Eligible

Check to make sure you're eligible for your company's education benefit, right up to the first day of your courses. Go to the Guild home page and check your eligibility status in the upper right-hand corner. For more information about eligibility, contact Guild support.

2 — Submit Your Illinois Tech Application

You will receive an email from Illinois Tech with directions on how to apply for acceptance into your chosen program. Be sure to choose the same learning program on your Illinois Tech application that you selected on the Guild application, or you may have to pay for the program on your own. Please also be sure to use the same name, email address, and other personal information you used on your Guild application when completing the Illinois Tech application. Using different information may result in delays for your start at Illinois Tech.

Make sure to read the email completely to understand what is required for your application.

1. You may be required to write a statement of interest for Illinois Tech, so remember to get started on the application in advance of any deadlines.

2. In addition, you may be required to speak with an Admissions Counselor at Illinois Tech.

3 — Start Your FAFSA

Gather important documents and complete your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online. Use the Use the Illinois Tech code 1691. Follow the detailed instructions provided by the Federal Student Aid office. When you're finished, you may be offered awards which you can accept or decline.

You can also go directly to Illinois Tech's Financial Aid website to learn more about the FAFSA process at Illinois Tech.

Per the Employer policy, each student enrolling in a program that is eligible for federal financial aid may be required to complete one or more of the following items before initial program enrollment and annually thereafter: FAFSA, financial aid packaging/awarding process, and accept any grant aid awarded. If any grants are accepted, they will be applied to tuition and mandatory fees before employer payment. If you have questions regarding your Employer education benefit policy, please consult Guild support. If you have questions about financial aid, please contact your learning provider's financial aid office.

4 — Send Your Transcripts to Illinois Tech

If you have taken college classes before, Illinois Tech will use your transcripts to complete your application and to possibly apply credits to your new program. You may also have to submit your most recent high school transcripts.

Please contact any colleges you have attended and have them send your official transcripts directly to Illinois Tech.

Note: You may be able to use a service to request your transcripts. To learn more about this process, click here to access Guild's Transcript Help Center.

If you have previous education outside of the U.S. (i.e., foreign credentials), please visit the Illinois Tech International Students website for detailed admissions requirements.

Official student copy transcript, paper or electronic, issued by the registrar must be uploaded through the online Application Status page.

Illinois Tech does not accept web-based copies, degree audit reports, or student-generated transcripts.

Note: It may take 1-2 months for transcripts to arrive at Illinois Tech, so order them as soon as possible.

5 — Complete Your Illinois Tech Orientation Process

Make sure to take time to complete the Illinois Tech orientation process to learn more details about your program, expectations, and keys to your academic success!

6 — Get Your Books & Materials Ready

Get your books and other materials ready for your courses. Check the syllabus for each course to find out what you need, and be sure to keep your receipts - you may need them for returns or reimbursements.

7 — Pass the Add/Drop Period

Make sure you progress past the add/drop period in order to stay enrolled in your program at Illinois Tech. Failure to do so may result in you being automatically dropped from the program or prevent you from continuing.

8 — Chat with Your Guild Coach for Support

Once you've passed the add/drop period, you'll have a chance to talk with your Guild Coach. This is the time to discuss your education and career aspirations, ask questions, and set goals for completing your program at Illinois Tech.

9 — Complete Your Coursework at Illinois Tech

Your Guild support network, along with your Illinois Tech support team, will be there to offer guidance and support throughout your program. Don't hesitate to reach out to Guild Support for help or Illinois Tech grad.admission@illinoistech.edu with any questions you may have!
