Get Prepared
Congratulations on taking the first step towards your educational goals. Have you received your approval email from Guild? If not, don’t worry, you should receive an email within seven days of submitting your Guild application.
If you have received your approval email, you can take these steps to start your Louisiana State University Continuing Education (LSU CE) program:
1 — Confirm your spot with Guild
Once your Guild application is approved, you'll need to confirm your spot in LSU CE's program for the next start date.
Log in to your Guild account and visit your Applications page to confirm your spot.
Be sure to confirm your spot by the 29th day of the month before your start date. For example, if your start date is in July, the deadline is June 29th. If your start date is in March, your deadline is February 27th.
If you don't confirm your spot by the 29th day, your start date will automatically update to the next start date available (up to 90 days out). You should be able to view your new start date and confirm your spot for the new start date within your Guild portal. If you don't confirm your spot for the updated start date, you will need to re-apply.
2 — Make sure you’re eligible through Guild
Check to make sure you're eligible for your company's education benefit, right up to the first day of classes by signing into your Guild account and viewing your eligibility status in the upper right-hand corner. If you don't see your eligibility status or have questions, contact Guild support for more information.
Your details will be sent to LSU CE on the first business day of your cohort month. If you have any questions about when you are starting courses, or what email you used on your application, please reach out to Guild support.
If you have previous education outside of the U.S. (i.e., foreign credentials), there aren't extra requirements to complete at LSU CE.
3 — Getting Started with LSU CE
On the first business day of your cohort month, LSU CE will create your account and register you in your program. Check the email you used when you applied through Guild for communication from LSU CE. This email will be used to set your password and verify your account. If you have questions about accessing your LSU CE account or resetting your password, you can watch this video for a step-by-step guide or reach out to LSU CE at answers@outreach.lsu.edu or 833-280-5634 with any questions.
4 — Start Classes at LSU CE
You will receive confirmation emails once you are registered in your first course or courses. This confirmation email signifies that your enrollment period has begun and that you can start working on your material within approximately two hours. In most cases, you will receive this confirmation email in the first 1-2 business days of your cohort month. You must complete the "Introduction" module in your course as soon as possible to verify your enrollment and stay in your program.
Textbooks: The course syllabus or first module will outline any required course materials, such as textbooks. Depending on your employer’s reimbursement policies, you may be responsible for paying for books. To learn more about your employer’s reimbursement policies, contact Guild support.
5 — Learner Support
Your LSU CE Student Success Coach will assist you while you’re working on your program. Your certificate is self-paced, but you’ll want to make sure you have a plan to complete all of your courses in time before access to your courses and access to add your remaining courses ends.
Additionally, after you’ve verified your enrollment in your course, you’ll have a chance to talk with your Guild Growth Coach. You can discuss your education and career goals and develop a plan to complete your certificate. Guild Coaches can also provide information regarding your employer’s education benefit plan.
Both LSU CE Student Success Coaches and Guild Growth Coaches work collaboratively to ensure your success.
