Step 1: Get Admitted | Step 2: Get Registered
Congratulations!
Congrats on taking the first steps towards your education goals. Have you received your approval email from Guild? If not, don’t worry, you should receive an email within seven days of submitting your Guild application.
If you have received your Guild approval email, double congratulations! Here are your next steps for becoming a Guild student at Ohio University:
1 — Make sure you’re eligible
Check to make sure you're eligible for your company's education benefit, right up to the first day of your courses. Go to the Guild home page and check your eligibility status in the upper right-hand corner. For more information about eligibility, contact Guild support.
2 — Submit Your Ohio University Application
If you are currently enrolled or have ever completed an Ohio University course, you do not need to re-apply to the university. Currently enrolled students should follow normal university processes for registration. If you are not currently enrolled but have previously completed an Ohio University class, follow Ohio University’s instructions for Re-enrolling Students.
New applicants will receive an email from Ohio University with directions on how to apply for acceptance into their chosen program. Be sure to choose the same learning program on your Ohio University application that you selected on the Guild application, or you may have to pay for the program on your own. Please also be sure to use the same name, email address, and other personal information you used on your Guild application when completing the Ohio University application. Using different information may result in delays for your start at Ohio University. Exception: Members who are already enrolled at Ohio University and are looking to change their major, please do so with the university directly. In these cases, you do not need to submit a new Guild application.
Make sure to read the email completely to understand what is required for your application.
You may be required to write a statement of interest for your Ohio University application, so remember to get started on the application in advance of any deadlines.
In addition, you may be required to speak with an Admissions Counselor at Ohio University.
You may also be required to provide references. Please follow the instructions provided by Ohio University in your application process, and request letters of recommendation from professional or academic references who can best speak to your ability to be successful in this program.
You may be asked for an application fee. The fee waiver through Guild is: "GreenApply"
Next, connect with Ohio University’s Admissions Department to complete your application & enrollment process. For more information, please go directly to www.ohio.edu/admissions
3 — Start Your FAFSA
Gather important documents and complete your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online. The Federal School Code for Ohio University is 003100. Follow the detailed instructions provided by the Federal Student Aid office. When you're finished, you may be offered awards which you can accept or decline.
You can also go directly to www.ohio.edu/admissions to learn more about the FAFSA process at Ohio University.
4 — Send Your Transcripts to Ohio University
The easiest way to do this is to have your previous schools send transcripts directly to Ohio University. You can also use a third-party service like Parchment. If you do receive transcripts, make sure you don’t open them. If you do, Ohio University can no longer use them, even if they’re emailed.
Review the How to get your transcripts article for more information.
If you have previous education outside of the U.S. (i.e., foreign credentials), there are extra requirements to complete to enroll at Ohio University.
A course-by-course evaluation of your transcripts is required and must be sent directly to Ohio University from the approved credential agency.
If you’re applying for the RN-BSN program, and you’ve completed a nursing diploma, degree, or equivalent, you need to provide an evaluation from CGFNS Credential Evaluation Service.
For programs other than the RN-BSN program, you must have your evaluation performed by an official member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
A certified or attested English translation of your non-English transcripts is required.
An English proficiency exam with a minimum score may be required. Please review Ohio University’s policy for English language proficiency here:
Confirm requirements with Ohio University's Admissions Department before paying out of pocket for an evaluation, translation, and/or exam.
If you need more help with the foreign credentials process, please review this article. You can also message Guild Support or call 1-800-985-4027 (Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. MT).
Transcripts can be emailed to admissions@ohio.edu.
Paper transcripts can be mailed to
