Get Prepared

Congrats on taking the first steps towards your education goals. Have you received your approval email from Guild? If not, don’t worry, you should receive an email within seven days of submitting your Guild application.

If you have received your approval email, double congratulations! Here are your next steps in completing the eSpelman application:

1 — Confirm your spot

Once your Guild application is approved, you'll need to confirm your spot in eSpelman's program for the next start date. Log in to your Guild account and visit your Applications page to confirm your spot, then eSpelman will reach out to you with next steps.

Be sure to confirm your spot by two weeks before your start date, failure to do so will result in missing the window to register for your desired term start.

If you don't confirm your spot by two weeks before your start date, your start date will automatically update to the next start date available (up to 90 days out). You should be able to view your new start date and confirm your spot for the new start date within your Guild portal. If you don't confirm your spot for the updated start date, you will need to re-apply.

2 — Application & Enrollment

After “accepting your spot” you will receive an email from eSpelman with directions to create your student account and officially apply through eSpelman’s portal for acceptance into your certificate program. Please be sure to use the same name, date of birth and email address you used on your Guild application. Inaccuracies may result in delays in your application being processed.

eSpelman’s website provides an overview of what to expect in the application process and you can find that here

Note:

  • Your admissions email from eSpelman will include a link to an enrollment confirmation form. You must confirm your enrollment to be registered for your certificate program.

  • Admission to your eSpelman program includes a book voucher to get required course books. Guidance around how to use your voucher can be found in the “Purchasing Books” section of the application process page here.

If you have previous education outside of the U.S. (i.e., foreign credentials), there aren't extra requirements to complete at eSpelman.

3 — Complete your Certificate Online Orientation Course prior to starting your classes

Prior to the first day of class, you will receive an email from eSpelman to register for the online Certificate Orientation Course that eSpelman has intentionally built to help you succeed in your course and program. Participating in this course will also allow you to join the online learning community at eSpelman and network with your peers. This course needs to be completed by the first day of class. Completion of the course is mandatory.

4 — Complete your Mandatory Community Check-In

Complete the Community Check-In found in the eSpelman Welcome page by the Friday night (11:59pm ET) of your first week. Failure to do so may result in you being considered absent from the course and dropped from the program. Completion of the Community Check-In is mandatory.

5 — Chat with your Guild Growth Coach or eSpelman Strategic Success Advisor

Once you’ve started your courses, you’ll have a chance to talk with your Guild Growth Coach and your eSpelman Strategic Success Advisor. This is the time to discuss your progress, time management/study skills, academic support, and set goals for completing your program.

6 — Complete your Courses

Your Guild Growth Coach and eSpelman Strategic Success Advisor will be there to support you with any questions throughout your program and help you explore options for certificate completion. They’ll also work with you to explore new programs if you’re interested.
