Step 1: Get Accepted
Congrats on taking the first steps towards your education goals. Have you received your approval email from Guild? If not, don’t worry, you should receive an email within 7-10 days of submitting your Guild application.
If you have received your approval email, double congratulations! Here are your next steps in completing the University of Massachusetts Global MyPath application:
1 — Make sure you’re eligible
Check to make sure you're eligible for your company's education benefit, right up to the first day of classes. Go to the Guild home page and check your eligibility status in the upper right-hand corner. For more information about eligibility, contact Guild support.
2 — Complete the Online Self-paced/UMass Global MyPath application process
To get started, check your inbox for an email from University of Massachusetts Global, the subject will read, “Welcome to University of Massachusetts Global’s Online Application”. This email will be sent within 24-48 hours of your Guild application approval.
Use the info in the email to sign in to your UMass account and complete the full application for the program you’re interested in. Make sure you apply for the same UMass program you applied for through the Guild website. Your approval by Guild to move forward in this program could become invalid if you apply to a different program, which would result in you becoming responsible for paying for your program out of pocket.
If you’re thinking about applying to a program that’s different than what you applied to through Guild, or if you are having trouble selecting your program, please reach out to Guild support.
For help signing in to the University of Massachusetts Global portal, contact the technical support team at 1-855-553-3007.
If you have any issues with or questions about your application or any of the following processes, please contact Guild support.
3 — Start FAFSA
Gather important documents and complete your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online. Use the MyPath/UMass Global's code 041618. Follow the detailed instructions provided by the Federal Student Aid office. When you're finished, you will be offered awards which you can accept or decline.
Per the Employer policy, each student enrolling in a program that is eligible for federal financial aid may be required to complete one or more of the following items before initial program enrollment and annually thereafter: FAFSA, financial aid packaging / awarding process, accept any grant aid awarded. If any grants are accepted they will be applied to tuition and mandatory fees before employer payment. If you have questions regarding your Employer education benefit policy, please consult Guild support. If you have questions about financial aid, please contact your learning provider's financial aid office.
4 — Request transcripts
If you have taken college classes before, UMass Global will use your transcripts to complete your application and to possibly apply credits to your new program. If you have fewer than 12 college credits, or if you have not attended college, you may have to submit your most recent high school transcripts or a copy of your diploma/GED certificate.
If you were able to submit a request for your college transcripts in your Guild Pre-Application, you should be good to go!
If you were not able to request transcripts in your Guild Pre-Application, contact any colleges you have attended and have them send your official transcripts directly to UMass Global.
Note: You may be able to use a service to request your transcripts. To learn more about this process, Click here to access Guild's Transcript Help Center.
If you have previous education outside of the U.S. (i.e., foreign credentials), there are extra requirements to complete to enroll at UMass Global.
UMass Global completes foreign credential evaluations in-house. Official transcripts must be sent from the previous school directly to UMass Global for an internal evaluation. Please review their policy for international transcripts:
An English translation of non-English transcripts is required. Both the original transcript (in original language) and a certified English translation of the transcript must be sent to UMass Global.
Confirm requirements with UMass Global’s Office of Admissions before paying out of pocket for a translation.
If you need more help with the foreign credentials process, please review this article and/or contact Guild Support or call 1-800-985-4027 (Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. MT).
Transcripts can be emailed to apply@umassglobal.edu. Paper transcripts can be mailed to:
University of Massachusetts Global
Attn: Office of Admissions
65 Enterprise #150
Aliso Viejo, CA 92656
Note: It may take 1-2 months for transcripts to arrive at UMass Global, so order them as soon as possible.
5 — Attend new student orientation
Shortly after being admitted, you will be E-Mailed directions on next steps, including information on how to attend your virtual New Student Orientation
6 — Register for competencies and make a plan with your UMass Global Academic Advisor
Once you’ve completed your new student orientation, schedule a meeting with your UMass Global academic advisor to select the competencies you'll take during the term. Your advisor can help you make the best decisions based on your program and needs. They can help prepare you for your competencies, discuss competency materials, and review available resources. You can also work together to create an individualized education plan that supports your academic journey.
7 — Start competencies
Work with your Guild Growth Coach and UMass Global academic advisor to get ready for your first day of classes. Be sure to sign in to each competency on the first day of class, or you may be automatically dropped.
