Step 1: Get Prepared | Step 2: Get Registered

Step 2: Get Registered

Now you’ve completed the first step, you’ll need to register for courses and purchase your books and materials. Dive in and explore the resources below to help make registration a breeze.

1 — Connect with your LSU Online Student Success Coach

Schedule a congratulations call with your LSU Online Student Success Coach through your Enrollment Coach to get to know each other and take the next step.

Important Note: If you do not connect with your coach and complete these steps, you will be dropped from your courses and potentially delay your start date.

2 — Prior Learning Assessment

Students may be able to use their prior learning through "Prior Learning Assessment" (PLA) to gain credits toward select online degrees. LSU Online offers credit for Amazon/AWS certifications, PMP, CFA, CPA, Certified Professional Constructors, and other certifications, as well as military training. Learn more at https://online.lsu.edu/prior-learning-assessment/.

3 — Provisional Admittance (Graduate School Only)

At the Graduate Level, unofficial transcripts can be submitted and a student can be admitted provisionally. Students must obtain and submit their official documents during their first term. If the student does not submit their documents by the end of the first term, the student is not allowed to register for the next term.

4 — Register for courses

Schedule a meeting with your Academic Advisor through your Student Success Coach. Your Academic Advisor will help you select the courses you'll take during the term and can help you make the best decisions based on your program and needs.

5 — Plan with your Student Success Coach

Your Student Success Coach can help prepare you for your courses, discuss course materials, and review available resources. You can also work together to create an individualized course plan that supports your academic journey.

6 — Buy books and materials

As a Guild member, you can buy discounted textbooks through VitalSource. You’ll first need to create a VitalSource account.

Use the 'Textbooks By Course' tool available in your myLSU portal to see which books and/or materials are required for your courses. The link can be found via myLSU > Registration Services > Textbooks By Course - this will take you to the LSU Barnes & Noble website where you will input your course information. Your required textbooks and/or materials will then populate, along with links to purchase or rent them from our bookstore, or if you prefer, you can check out VitalSource.  Be sure to keep your receipts - you may need them for returns or reimbursements.

7 — Finalize Registration

Once you have been notified that your eligible funding has been applied to your fee bill, You MUST complete the required registration step in each online module by Friday on the first week of the term to secure your courses or risk being dropped from them.  Learn more at: Guild Funds and Registration Requirement Process

8 — Start classes

Work with your LSU Online Student Success Coach and your Guild Growth Coach to get ready for your first day of classes. Be sure to sign in to each course on the first day of class, or you may be automatically dropped.
