Get Set Up

Now you’ve completed your checklist, you’ll need to register for courses and purchase your materials. Dive in and explore the resources below for your next steps.

1 — Set up your ONID

Review the instructions and watch the video to help you set up your ONID (OSU Network ID) account. You will need the ONID account to register for classes, access course sites, and get your university email address. If you are a former student returning to Oregon State, you will need to reactivate your ONID account.

You must check your ONID email regularly by logging in through the OSU Google Apps Login Portal. Billing notifications and all other OSU communications will be sent there.

2 — Confirm your enrollment

If you are seeking an undergraduate or post baccalaureate degree, you'll need to confirm your enrollment. Confirming your enrollment signals that you intend to enroll at OSU, starts the review process of any previous credits you've taken, and grants you access to OSU’s Ecampus online orientation.  To confirm your enrollment, log into the Beaver Basecamp admissions portal and click the “Confirm Enrollment” link on the Next Steps Checklist.

As an OSU Ecampus student, you will not need to pay the $200 Advance Tuition Deposit (ATD). The ATD will be waived when you confirm your enrollment.

3 — Complete the orientation

Within three business days of confirming your enrollment, you should receive access to OSU’s Ecampus online orientation. If you are not granted access, please contact Ecampus student services, 800-667-1465, option 1 or ecampus.ess@oregonstate.edu. Complete the program to learn important details about online courses, degree programs, and student services at OSU.

4 — Review your Advanced Standing Report

Once you've completed the online orientation and submitted all official transcripts from previous institutions through Beaver Basecamp, the Office of Admissions will send you an Advanced Standing Report that will show all the college courses you've taken before based on your transcripts. It will outline which courses were accepted for credit at Oregon State and what they will count towards.

If you have questions about your Advanced Standing Report or OSU's transfer evaluation process, contact the Office of Admissions at 800-291-4192.

Note that the Office of Admissions will not provide an official pre-evaluation of credit until you have confirmed your enrollment.

5 — Complete the ALEKS math placement exam

All first-year and transfer students need to take the ALEKS math placement exam. Your advisor will use the results to place you in the right math course. This will help you make progress towards your degree without wasting your time and money.

If you've earned a C- or better in college algebra or higher at another college or university, or through AP, CLEP, or IB exam, you don't need to take the placement exam.

If it has been more than a year since you took a math course, you should consider taking the ALEKS math placement exam. It will give you access to tutoring modules that will help refresh your skills before your next math course.
