Step 1: Get Admitted | Step 2: Get Registered | Step 3: Get Started | Step 4: Ongoing Success

Step 1: Get Accepted

Congrats on taking the first steps towards your education goals. Have you received your approval email from Guild?  If not, don’t worry, you should receive an email within 7 to 10 business days of submitting your Guild application.

If you have received your approval email, double congratulations! Here are your next steps to completing University of Massachusetts Global:

1 — Understand the process

Check to make sure you're eligible for your company's education benefit, right up to the first day of classes. Go to the Guild home page and check your eligibility status in the upper right-hand corner. For more information about eligibility, contact Guild support.

2 — Complete your application to University of Massachusetts Global

To get started, check your inbox for an email from University of Massachusetts Global, the subject will read, “Welcome to University of Massachusetts Global’s Online Application”. This email will be sent within 24-48 hours of your Guild application approval.

Use the info in the email to sign in to your UMass account and complete the full application for the program you’re interested in. Make sure you apply for the same UMass program you applied for through the Guild website. Your approval by Guild to move forward in this program could become invalid if you apply to a different program, which would result in you becoming responsible for paying for your program out of pocket.

If you’re thinking about applying to a program that’s different than what you applied to through Guild, or if you haven’t received the information above, contact Guild support first.

In order for UMass Global's Financial Aid Office to complete the financial aid award process, applicants must enter their Social Security Number in the university application. Please complete this important step to ensure a smooth admission and award process.

3 — Start FAFSA

Gather important documents and complete your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online. Use the UMass Global's code 041618. Follow the detailed instructions provided by the Federal Student Aid office. When you're finished, you will be offered awards which you can accept or decline.

Understand financial aid

Per the Employer policy, each student enrolling in a program that is eligible for federal financial aid may be required to complete one or more of the following items before initial program enrollment and annually thereafter: FAFSA, financial aid packaging / awarding process, accept any grant aid awarded. If any grants are accepted they will be applied to tuition and mandatory fees before employer payment. If you have questions regarding your Employer education benefit policy, please consult Guild support. If you have questions about financial aid, please contact your learning provider's financial aid office.

4 — Request transcripts

If you have taken college classes before, UMass Global will use your transcripts to complete your application and to possibly apply credits to your new program. If you have fewer than 12 college credits, or if you have not attended college, you may have to submit your most recent high school transcripts or a copy of your diploma/GED certificate.

If you were able to submit a request for your college transcripts in your Guild Pre-Application, you should be good to go!

If you were not able to request transcripts in your Guild Pre-Application, contact any colleges you have attended and have them send your official transcripts directly to UMass Global.

Note: You may be able to use a service to request your transcripts. To learn more about this process, Click here to access Guild's Transcript Help Center.

If you have previous education outside of the U.S. (i.e., foreign credentials), there are extra requirements to complete to enroll at UMass Global.

  • UMass Global completes foreign credential evaluations in-house. Official transcripts must be sent from the previous school directly to UMass Global for an internal evaluation. Please review their policy for international transcripts:

  • An English translation of non-English transcripts is required. Both the original transcript (in original language) and a certified English translation of the transcript must be sent to UMass Global.

  • Confirm requirements with UMass Global’s Office of Admissions before paying out of pocket for a translation.

  • If you need more help with the foreign credentials process, please review this article and/or contact Guild Support or call 1-800-985-4027 (Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. MT).

Transcripts can be emailed to apply@umassglobal.edu. Paper transcripts can be mailed to:

University of Massachusetts Global

Attn: Office of Admissions

16355 Laguna Canyon Road

Irvine, CA 92618

Note: It may take 1-2 months for transcripts to arrive at UMass Global, so order them as soon as possible.
